Cairo City and Pyramids Tour from Hurghada

Hotel Pickup

We'll pick you up early (4.30am) from your Hurghada hotel and begin our Tour by driving to Hurghada airport for your flight to Cairo.

Cairo Tour to the Great Pyramid of Giza

Also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops, the Great Pyramid is the oldest and largest of the Pyramids of Giza. Composed of over 2.3 million blocks of granite weighing 25-80 tonnes each, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one that still remains largely intact, the Great Pyramid never fails to astound and amaze. Built over a 20 year period, the Great Pyramid initially stood at 146 meters, making it the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.

Our highly-trained Egyptologist tour guide will be able to give you any information you need on the Pyramids including supposed construction methods (nobody really knows for sure), materials used, labour used and why the pyramids were built.

There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid, the lowest was cut into the bedrock beneath the pyramid, with the Kings chamber and Queens chamber higher up in the structure. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only pyramid in Egypt known to contacin both ascending and descending passages.

The main part of the Giza complex is a set of buildign that include two mortuary temples, three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller pyramid, a raised causeway connecting the two temples and smaller tombs for nobles.

Visit the Sphinx on our Cairo Sightseeing Tour

Translated as "Ther Terrifying One" but more commonly referred to as the Sphinx, this limestone statue of a mythical creature with a lions body and human head stands on the west bank of the Nile in Giza.

Believed to have been built by the ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdon during the reign of Pharoh Khafra around 2558 BC (the Pharoh who built the second pyramid), this amazing statue stands 20m high and 73 meters long and is the oldest known monumental sculpture in the world.

Throughout Egyptian history the Sphinz has been reveared with ancient Egyptians looking up at it with "divinity", and even to today it remains shrouded in mystery, with basic information like when it was built and by whom still debated. There are even theories of Kings being buried in it!

The Sphix is an awesome sight and rich in history, over its lifetime being buried in sand for hundreds of years and then dug back out. There are also stories of Napoleon's soldiers shooting cannonballs at the great Sphinx and breaking off it's nose.

Khafre's Tremples

At the base of Khafre's pyramid, the second tallest of the Pyramids of Giza, lies Khafres temple complex. These have remained in much better condition that other temples in the area and is the best example for us to explore. Built from megalithic blocks, weighing up to 400 tonnes each, this beautiful temple houses five storage chambers, an entrance hall, a columned court and an inner sanctuary to explore.

The interior of the temple has been remarkably well preserved and the temple of Giza are an amazing sight that have to be seen.

Lunch on the Nile

After exploring Cairo Museum we'll have a delicious buffet lunch at a restaurant alongside the famous River Nile, the lifeblood of Cairo.

Egyptian Museum Tour

Inside this massive and world-famous museum you'll find the most important pieces of Egyptian history including Pharaonic antiques and the treasure of Egypt's best known King, Tutankhamen. This massive museum in Tahir Square was established in 1902 and includes seven floors filled with fascinating artifacts such as two statues of King Tutankhamen made of cedar wood and covered in fine gold, a statue of King Akhenaton, Ushabtis statues that belonged to the Nubian kings, a mummy of a child and a small plychrome glass vase.

During the Egyptian revolution of 2011the museum was broken into and two mummies were destroyed as well as around 50 objects being lost and several damaged. Since then 25 of those objects have been successfully recovered.

The Egyptian Museum spans across 2 floors, the ground floor housing numerous objects including papyrus with written Greek, Latin, Arabic and ancient Egyptian, and coins, again not only Egyptian ones but also Greek, Roman and Islamic, highlighting Egypt's rich history. The ground floor also houses large statues, tables and coffins.

On the first floor you'll find artefacts from the final two dynasties of Egypt including items from the tombs of Pharohs Tutmosis III, Thutmosis IV, Amenophis II, Hatshepsut, and the courtier Maiherpri, as well as many artefacts from the Valley of the Kings, in particular the material from the intact tombs of Tutankhamen and Psusennes I. Two special rooms contain a number of mummies of kings and other royal family members of the New Kingdom.

The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities is a fascinating place that allows you to see all the antiques that would have been buried in the ancient kings of Egypt's tombs and pyramids as well as some of the mummified kings themselves.

Optional Sound and Light Show

To end our fabulous tour of Cairo there's an hour at the end where you can decide to either watch the sound and light show at the pyramids or do your own thing for an hour.

Fly back to Hurghada

Our guided tour of Cairo takes you to one of the most amazing sights in the World - the Great Pyramid of Giza, we'll see inside an ancient unearthed tomb, see the mythical Sphinx, and the bazaars. You'll finally get to see the sights and places we all learnt about at school or watched a program on TV about in a day that you'll always remember, and you'll come back much more interested in Egypt's fascinating history that when you left.

After a fantastic day we'll drive to Cairo airport where you'll fly back to Hurghada and driven to your hotel.

What an amazing trip. Mohammed was our guide in Cairo but the guide that picked us up from the hotel was also as helpful.
We arrived in Cairo before the roads had time to get busy (and they get busy) which gave us a bit of free time so we went to see the first ever mosque in Africa. Them onto the museum. We needed a drink so Mohammed took us to an Egyptian cafe for coffee and water. We then had a boat trip up the Nile and a chat about life in Cairo. We then headed to the restaurant for lunch. This was delicious and very clean
The waiter was also a very friendly man. He made us all laugh. The pyramids were out of this world and Mohamed was knowledgeable but not over the top. He can also take great photos.
Lastly he took us to a rug shop and a papyrus shop. He never forced us to go anywhere or spend money elsewhere. My only regret about the trio was that I spent all my money in the rug shop and couldn't tip Mohammed as he so rightly deserved one. Thanks f9r the memories.

We booked the trip from London and was not sure how would be the service.
We were welcomed by one of the team members Khalid at airport and he explained all the requirements for the next trip (Cairo 1 day by plane) to us. He went through everything including all the required documents, breakfast package which we need to get from the hotel and even clothes we better to wear.
He personally came 4 in the morning to pick us up from the hotel to ensure we will have the best service.
In Cairo we were welcome by Ahmad (Driver) and very good tour leader (Mahmood - Moody)
We asked them to add a quick change in our Cairo trip and bring us to Refahi' masque where Persian King buried. We were not sure they can accommodate it but they did.
Mahmood even convinced the people in the mosque to open the doors and let us see the Maghbarah before 8 in the morning.
We really appreciate his effort on this as he made a wonderful memory for us.
Then we went to the museum and received detailed information on everything.... Pyramid trip was wonderful too <3
He was also a great photographer and took the best pictures from us.

Thank you for the lovely day and personalized trip.

1st off...hats off to Will, OMG such a gent, good sense of humour, knew his history and was so caring.
So we got picked up from hotel on time, drove to the airport, we picked up 2 other English girls, Lisa and Megan, hey if ur reading this, you also made our day!
Got on the plane, plenty of instructions given so we knew where to go n what to expect. Plane was fine, got a few little snacks tha were free. We met our tour guide before we even made the exit doors, I seen him with a big gang of people and thought oh no, there's going to be loads of us...turns out he was helpin people who wer a little lost, he did this a few times which I thought was lovely, apart from the 2 English girls we had Will all to ourselves. We had a drive around Cairo to get the feel of the culture, he showed us some famous buildings on the way to the museum, (pay extra to see the mummies, it's worth it cos they are well known) went to the pyramids and sphinx, inside a pyramid tomb, rode a camel, boat ride on the river Nile, had dinner, went to a papyrus making and oil burning shop. Also need to mention the driver, he was everywhere we went, he would drop us off at the pyramids entrance doors and be waitin for us right on the other side, literally had to walk 10 steps and you were back in the mini van, amazing, the heat was unreal so this just took the edge right off especially with the air con. They really took care of us, if we needed anything, haggling, drinks, very attentive, I mean...he even took us to Burger King before our flight home cos we were peckish.
Don't book with any1 unless it's Egypt excursions, fantastic service, smooth trips, definitely worth the money. I would do it all over again tomorrow if I had the chance.
Thankyou so much, I will never forget this trip,

I can’t recommend this excursion enough. It was interesting and fun, the day was filled with activities, we got a real feel for the cities as well as it’s ancient history. Will, the tour guide was informative and funny- he really made the trip. He was knowledgable about most facets of Egyptian history as well as providing insights into present day socio-political situations. We had a lovely lunch and were really well accommodated by the company. I had friends that had done excursions organised but the hotel (jasmine palace) that were left disappointed so I highly recommend booking with Egypt excursions. Thank you - Ben and Chloe

Travelling to Cairo by plane was definitely the best option. It was very organised and managed to board and land us easily. At Cairo airport we were met by our tour guide, Abdul. Abdul was very talkative and funny. He explained our all day and gave us some information. Firstly we went for a Nile boat trip and then we continued our tour to the Egyptian Museum. Abdul took us around the most important artefacts in the museum and gave us the important background information behind them. Afterwards, we continued on to a restaurant, the food here was very good and fresh. We had then taken to the pyramids. Abdul had made sure that we all had very nice photos in all the places we had been throughout the day. Again he explained us all the history behind the pyramids. After that we had some spare time, when we went to a papyrus and a perfume factories. Overall Cairo was a great experience. The only problem we had was related to our return to Hurghada. Our transfer supposed to be waiting for us at the airport right after our airplane landed, however nobody was there and we had to call/text the company and wait about 30 minutes until someone appeared. That was the only negative point about our day.
We also did other tours with the company which were amazing!!!
Therefore, I really recommend them to everyone going to Hurghada. You will not regret! And they several nice options to choose, for every taste :-)

Travelling to Cairo by plane was definitely a good idea. For the plane ride, it was very organised and managed to board and land with ease. When arriving the Cairo airport we were met by our tour guide, WILL. WILL was straight away very welcoming and spoke to us like he had known us before the trip. He had assured us that the day would be good of which it was so. Straight away from Landing WILL was telling us information about our onwards journey and making sure we understood. Firstly we arrived at the Citadel, he was explaining to us about the sites and the surrounding areas. He had noticed that we were a little sleepy from the journey and kindly bought us all a drink of which was muchly appreciated. we continued our tour to the Egyptian Museum, he had taken us around the important artefacts in the museum and told us the backgrounds behind them. WILL had made sure that we had seen the tresury of Tutankhamun. He had then given us free time to roam the museum as we please. Afterwards, we were then given the opportunity to take a boat trip on the Nile; from then we had seen how the buildings were situated and the different working classes that lived there. we had continued on to a restaurant, the food here was really nice and fresh and service was again brilliant. We had then taken the car to the pyramids, WILL had made sure that we had exclusive views of the pyramids without all the tourists in view. He had made sure that we had the opportunity to take some photos from a different persective. He had given us the opportunity to go inside a pyramid without having to pay and with no tourists to fight over. WILL had made sure that we understood all history to its best potential and at one point sat us down and explained to us all about it. Afterwards, we had some spare time, we were able to experience papyrus making and glass sculpting of which we had bought one of each item home. Overall Cairo was a great experience, But having WILL as our tour guide made it unforgettable
